Who We Are

Guess a Game is a prediction game that lets users save tournament predictions, compare scores on a leaderboard, and manage a public display name. You can contact the site operator at contact@guessagame.com.

Information We Collect

We collect account information such as your email address, authentication provider details, display name, profile image where supplied by your sign-in provider, and email preference choices. We also store your score predictions, penalty-winner selections, points totals derived from results, and leaderboard position.

We may collect technical information such as device, browser, performance data, and basic operational logs to keep the site reliable, secure, and working correctly.

If you arrive through an outreach or referral link, we store the outlet-level source, such as a podcast, publication, creator, or community slug. We do not store named outreach recipients, private contact email addresses, follow-up notes, reply notes, or spreadsheet status fields in the app database.

If you accept analytics cookies, we use optional analytics tools, including Google Analytics, Vercel Web Analytics, and Vercel Speed Insights, to collect aggregate information about site usage and performance, such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser information, referral source, interaction events, and page performance. We do not intentionally send your email address or saved prediction content to analytics providers.

How We Use Information

We use your information to provide sign-in, send service emails such as welcome messages, save and lock predictions, calculate points, show leaderboard rankings, prevent misuse, maintain security, debug errors, and understand aggregate site performance. Referral source data helps us understand which public outreach sources lead to visits, signups, predictions, and mini-leagues. If you accept analytics cookies, we use optional analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site and which features are useful.

Public Information

Your display name, profile image or generated initial, points total, and leaderboard position may be visible to other users. Your email address is not intended to be shown publicly.

Service Providers

We use third-party services to operate the site, including hosting, authentication, database storage, email delivery, analytics, and performance monitoring. These providers process information only as needed to deliver those services.

Google Analytics is provided by Google. Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights are provided by Vercel. These providers may process analytics and performance data according to their own privacy terms and controls.

Cookies And Local Storage

We use essential cookies and browser storage to operate the site. This includes storage for sign-in sessions, guest predictions, saved prediction state, your analytics consent choice, and a short-lived first-party referral cookie when you arrive via an outreach link. These are needed for the core prediction game and referral attribution to work.

Analytics cookies are optional. Optional analytics tools only load if you choose to accept analytics cookies. Rejecting analytics does not prevent you from using the predictor, saving predictions, or appearing on the leaderboard.

How Long We Keep Information

We keep account and prediction data while your account remains active or while needed to operate the game, maintain records, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations. Guest predictions stored in your browser remain under your control unless they are imported after sign-in.

Your Choices

You can update your display name and non-essential email preference on the site. You can also request access, correction, or deletion of personal data by contacting us. Some prediction records may need to be retained where they are required to preserve game integrity after a match has started.

You can accept or reject analytics cookies when the banner is shown. You can later change your choice using the Cookie settings link in the footer. You can also control cookies and localStorage through your browser settings. Google provides a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
